890 v7: Your Supreme Long Running Mate from New Balance

Marked with lighter weight, this shoe is ready to give you comfort on every stride. Here is the review.

The seventh iteration of 890 series is now available in lighter weight, 50 grams thinner than the previous series. On the midsole, New Balance 890 v7 still has the iconic REVlite responsive cushioning. It is completed with gusseted tongue that offers a fit comfort for your medial part. It seems that all those features made New Balance focus on serious runner as its potential users.

Here are the reviews of those wearing New Balance 890 V7:

Rudi Febriade, long distance runner

For the last four days, I train with 890 v7. My total distance is 60 km, from my morning and afternoon trainings combined. Most of my training consists of light and medium jogging. Light jogging itself is using 40-75% of my maximum speed in roughly 70 minutes duration. In other hand, medium jogging is using 80-85% of my maximum speed in the area of 12-18 km distance.

So far, I feel relaxed wearing 890 v7. It’s stretchable. The sole thickness is enough, the right amount between thick and thin. It’s very gentle for long run. The perforated upper cools your feet. It’s important because I use no socks during training. If I wear other shoes, it usually feels hot around km 15 so I will run while enduring the pain. It doesn’t happen with 890 v7. However, even with the omission of socks, I am still planning the avoid blisters by using lotion or baby oil. But please aware that this method might not suitable for all runners.

I suggest this pairs for long run. The cushioning is soft and suportive for various conditions duirng a long run, such as uphill, downhill or flat surface. There’s only one disadvantage for me: the colors are less attractive, LOL. As a marathoner, I prefer my shoes to stand out, mostly during dawn time when the race is usually started.

Triyaningsih, long distance running athlete

My first impression is more like love in a first sight. It’s lightweight and enough cushioning. It happened that my favorite type of shoes are ones with enough cushioning, not too thin, because it’s less fit for me. Another thing I like is the wide forefoot section, so it’s very safe for long run. We all know that feet expand during long run, right?

For the most part, this shoe is very comfortable. I tried it for light jogging around 12 km and 100 meter speed training, the feeling stays the same. But personally, I think New Balance 890 v7 is best for long run. On the other hand, I don’t suggest it for fitness or strength training because there are few moves such as step up that need more stability, something that this shoe doesn’t offered, since this shoe is made not for such moves.
